We fell in love with Garlic Chives while in Taiwan and Thailand. These fragrant vegetables add a delicious, garlic flavor to stir-fries and are well known for their role in Pad Thai. They can also be eaten on their own, which is why we paired them with Tofu and a light sauce for a quick snack or side dish!

Garlic Chives with Tofu Stir-Fry

Prep Time 5 mins
Cook Time 10 mins
Total Time 15 mins
Servings 2 people

  • 1/2 block tofu, pressed
  • 1 1/2 cups garlic, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 shallot
  • 1 tsps soy sauce
  • 2 tsps vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds optional topping

  • Heat a wok or frying pan on medium heat. Once heated, add 1 tsp of your oil.
  • Add your garlic and shallots to the oil and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • Add in the tofu and cook on both sides until browned. Add in the other tsp of oil if the tofu or garlic is burning. Once the tofu is browned, turn the heat up to medium-high and add in the garlic chives.
  • Cook the chives, tossing them with the onions, garlic and tofu for 1-2 minutes until they are softer, but still have a little crisp. Add in the soy sauce, toss everything a few times and then remove the pan from the heat. It's ready to serve! Top with sesame seeds for added texture if desired.
